Rev. Earl Eugene Montgolf

Rev. Earl Eugene Montgolf, age 88, of Cedartown, GA, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2012 following an extended illness.

He was born on June 2, 1923 in Cedartown, Ga, son of the late Joseph Montgolf and the late Maggie Glenn Montgolf. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife Magaline Parish Montgolf.

Rev. Montgolf was a U.S. Veteran serving our country with the United States Navy serving in the South Pacific in World War II. Rev. Montgolf began his ministry 60 years ago as Pastor of Antioch Baptist Church in Cedartown, GA. He also pastored churchs in Floyd County, Ga., Illinois, North Carolina, South Carolina and Arkansas. He and his wife returned to Cedartown and his last church as pastor was Shiloh Baptist Church. He retired as Vice President of Alton Box Board in Cedartown, GA and also Misco Corporation in Greenville, SC.

Rev. Montgolf is survived by his children, Patsy Wheeler and husband Russell, Rockmart GA, Danny Montgolf and wife Debra, Carrollton, GA, Phillip Montgolf and wife Anna, Cleburne, TX. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Tod Wheeler, Tara Wheeler, Kristi Helton, Kim Garner, Seth Montgolf and Daniel Montgolf.Six great grandchildren and a brother and sister also survive.

Funeral Service for Rev. Earl Montgolf will be conducted on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with Dr. Robert Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the Polk Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 6, 2012 from 11:00a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Litesey Funeral Home.

The following Gentlemen will serve as Pallbearers: Tod Wheeler, Ray Helton, J C Garner, Brant Wheeler,Edward Lackey and Daniel Montgolf.
